What data ParentsLore keeps, why, for how long, and your rights.
ParentsLore is a private family album. Your memories are kept by the publisher, are never sold, never used for advertising, and can only be seen by the members of your family. The website contains no advertising, no tracking tools and no third-party social networks.
The controller of your data is Amurius, the publisher of the website. For any question or request: [email protected].
Your account: first name, last name, email address or username, password (stored only in hashed form, unreadable even by the publisher), date and time of birth, gender, photo, chosen language.
Optional information in your profile, only if you fill it in: interests, studies or job (with the school or employer), personality type, star sign, place of birth, chosen color.
Your family's content: memories, photos, videos, stories, recipes, notes and hearts, family tree (including people without an account, such as ancestors or young children), pets, parents' notes. Location and device data contained in photos and videos are erased on upload.
Email addresses entered by a member to invite someone or to send them a link request.
Login data: approximate device (inferred from the browser), date of last activity and truncated IP address of each session, so that you can see and close your sessions.
Technical data: application logs (with email addresses masked) for security and troubleshooting, and web server access logs (with truncated IP addresses), from which anonymous visit statistics are drawn, without cookies or tracking scripts.
To provide the album to your family (accounts, memories, family tree, verification and password reset emails): this is the performance of the contract between you and the publisher when you use the service with your account.
For people who do not have an account (children registered by their parents, ancestors added or imported, people invited by their email address): this is the legitimate interest of families in keeping their history and inviting their relatives, in a private, family setting. The parents who record this information are responsible for it and add it with discretion.
For the security of the website, the prevention of abuse and the measurement of its traffic: this is the publisher's legitimate interest in running a safe service.
For the family letter by email: your choice, which you can change at any time from your profile or through the unsubscribe link in each letter.
A member may have added your name to their family tree, or entered your email address to invite you. You can ask for this information to be corrected or removed by writing to [email protected]. A parent of the family can also delete the record of a person without an account themselves.
Creating an account on your own and founding a family are reserved for people aged 18 or over. Joining a family as a relative, by invitation, requires being at least 15.
Children's records and access are created and managed by their parents. In France, a child under 15 cannot consent alone to the processing of their data: it is therefore always a parent who creates their access and can remove it.
A child account managed by the family cannot be deleted by the child themselves: the child or their parents ask the family's parents, or write to [email protected].
A child only sees the memories of their family that their age allows, never sees the paid plans, and cannot create a family on their own before coming of age.
The members of your family, according to their role (Parent, Child, Relative) and the settings of each memory. The publisher does not access families' content, except where technically necessary (troubleshooting, backup, restoration) or required by law.
A few service providers, only for what concerns them:
Some of these providers are located in the United States: these transfers are governed by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
You can access your data, correct it, erase it, retrieve it, object to its processing or ask for its processing to be restricted.
Many of these can be done directly on the website: edit your profile, delete a memory, your account or your family. Parents can download their family's complete archive and export the family tree (family settings). On coming of age, an account managed by the family can download its own memories (“Download my memories”, on the home page).
For everything else, write to [email protected]: we reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
Encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords and session tokens stored only in hashed form (unreadable, even by the publisher), photos and videos accessible only to authorized people, regular backups, and the option to close all your sessions remotely.
ParentsLore only uses cookies that are essential for it to work or linked to a choice you have made. They are never used to track you:
When bot protection is active, Cloudflare may also set a security cookie (“__cf_bm”).
The website also keeps some information in your browser's storage:
All of this stays on your device and is passed on to no one. These cookies and this storage are strictly necessary for the service or requested by you: that is why the website does not ask for your consent.
This policy may change along with the website. In the event of a significant change, you will be informed on the website or by email.
